about
Find A Way Back Over:
And now I look to the stars
To find a way back over
To streets of pouring rain
And echoes of voices of friends
Are calling me back over
To walk with them again
(Find A Way Back Over)
When I fell down into this place,
They combed my hair and washed my face,
I was handed down some clothes and some toys,
And I played football with the other boys,
Shivered with the nights coming in,
And behind closed doors, awake til the birds sing
Days went my like kicks in the balls,
And I broke two knuckles on my bedroom wall,
And they kept bleeding on the sheets,
We were kids, bleeding on the streets,
And there's no bleeding you can see,
But the past keeps fighting me.
And I fell down into this place,
With just these hands and just this face,
But I wrapped myself in armour within,
For the hard things that just living brings,
When I step out onto this road,
The walls are up, the windows are closed,
Despair chased all the young people home,
And I caught a fear that stays in the bone
(Find a way back over)
And road signs stick in my mind,
In memories played over of streets of pouring rain,
And sometimes, I'm closing my eyes,
And find myself back over, to walk with them again.
